Knots is a textile installation exploring the delicacy of cutting and tieing in traditional Japanese crafts, reimagining these techniques through fabric manipulation. Using repurposed fabric in monotone prints, I hand cut and folded hundreds of square and rectangular pieces which were arranged in patterned sections to cover a total area of 1.5 x 3.5m. These pieces were then tacked onto water-soluble material, stitched in place and then the whole curtain was submerged, dissolving the base cloth. All that remains is a web of delicate sewing threads connecting each piece.
